Jenny is not an expert. She's just dumb.

This article is awful. I don't KNOW where to begin. Hair that "falls", isn't a blessing. Many of us don't want it. Hair isn't "stubbornly kinky", but taking advice about black hair from a white woman can make it seem so. Most black women with short and "unmanageable" hair constantly use straightening products. I don't use them & my hair much longer than most people think black hair can grow. I am not limited to a few hairstlyes. I can do what someone with straight hair does PLUS more.

I have no problem with you giving hair advice but next time you should def. make sure that your information is correct. If "ethnic" hair is not processed it will not grow? False. Next time do your research if you are going to lend advise on a topic that you obviously no nothing about.

I'm pleased by the comments to the article. The author of this particular article, on the other hand... very, very, off base. African-textured hair is manageable; you just don't treat it the same way you do straight hair. Honestly, please do your research.

I agree with the other comments. There was no reason to be so blatantly negative and descriminatory agains Black hair. Our hair comes in many different textures, and some are straight. That doesn't make them any "better". To use such harsh language..."hassle to deal with"/"impossible to comb" is just making you sound completely ignorant. You could have at least said that you do not know much about black hair and could therefore not give a sufficent answer. Please think about the impact of your words.

This article was somewhat informative, especially where she talked about making sure that your hair is healthy before you relaxed it.

WOW!Jenny-O, I bet your hair "falls perfectly into place." What a blessing. Did you re-read this before you posted it? Do you realize how negative this really is? I don't really have to say much more, because all who have commented here did a great job at it. But, wow. That's pretty harsh Jenny. You're just downright dissing people. God likes variety, and just becuase one's hair doesn't "fall perfectly into place" means they were cursed instead of blessed? Hmmmm. Sad, sad, sad. Very sad remarks. I think you're racist. Pretty much every sentence contains a dis. It's ok though. Freeness of speech, right.

The article is GOOD but I don't like that statement: "If you have ethnic hair, it is almost always a good idea to relax. Extremely curly black hair can be a hassle to deal with. It gets tangled easily and is impossible to comb. It also never gets longer, just bushier which limits your hairstyles dramatically." I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THIS IS TRUE. ETHNIC HAIR IS BEAUTIFUL. AND A PERM IS NOT THE ONLY WAY TO TAME EXTREMELY KINKY HAIR. HAVE YOU HEARD OF A HOT COMB?

Dang, the black women jumped at Jenny like hawks. I bet she didn't intend to be mean. As African I always relax my hair because that's seems to be the acceptable way to get professioanl jobs. But I really like the Afican hair styles before the European colonization.
